IN-STeP Commitment to Child Safety and Wellbeing
At IN-STeP, the safety and wellbeing of children and young people is our highest priority. We believe every child has the right to feel safe, respected, heard, and supported in all environments where they learn and grow.
We are committed to creating and maintaining a child safe organisation where safeguarding children is embedded in our leadership, culture, and everyday practice. This means we actively work to prevent harm, respond to concerns, and continuously improve how we protect and support the young people we work with.
We place strong importance on listening to the voices of children and young people. Their perspectives matter, and we create safe, inclusive spaces where they feel confident to speak up, share their experiences, and contribute to decisions that affect them.
IN-STeP is also committed to working in partnership with families, carers, and communities. We recognise that keeping children safe is a shared responsibility, and we value collaboration, transparency, and trust in everything we do.
We celebrate diversity and are dedicated to providing culturally safe, inclusive, and equitable environments for all children. We acknowledge and respect the rights, identities, and experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, and children from all backgrounds, ensuring they feel valued and supported.
Our staff and volunteers are carefully selected, trained, and supported to uphold the highest standards of child safety. We maintain clear policies, codes of conduct, and child-focused complaint processes to ensure concerns are taken seriously and responded to promptly and respectfully.
At IN-STeP, child safety is not a one-time commitment — it is an ongoing responsibility. We regularly review and strengthen our practices to ensure we continue to provide safe, supportive, and empowering environments where every child can thrive.
